We are located on the picturesque Kapiti Coast, in among the peaceful surroundings of the Maungakotukutukus, approximately 50km north of Wellington City and 5 minutes drive from Paraparaumu Railway Station.  On our property is 'Nikau Lodge' which was one of the first homesteads built in the area, in the late 1800's.

Our camp is situated among 10.5 acres of native bush, and is able to offer private and tranquil setting ideal for all groups.  Unlike other camps in the area, we only book one camp at a time, so your group has full use of all of our facilities, and you can run your programme as it suits you.

Palm Grove is run by a friendly family who would only be too happy to discuss options for the camp you have in mind.  You are more than welcome to contact us to arrange a time for us to show you around our facilities.

We have suitable facilities for all groups from schools, workplaces, clubs or organisations wanting to host a fun time away.

Our Facitlities:

Accommodation - we have sleeping facilities for up to 140 people.

  • We have bunk style cabins which can sleep 6 to 8 in each room (we do have extra beds and mattresses which can be added if necessary)

  • 'Nikau Lodge' has 4 bedrooms which can sleep up to 22 people

  • Cottage - a two room building with a queen bed and a set of bunks.

Nikau Lodge - has large lounge facilities with a pool table and also with TV & video equipment.   This area is ideal for evening activities, workshops or just relaxing after a full on day of activities.  There is a large kitchen and bathroom facilities within the homestead.

Dining Room - Suitable for all your meals, this area is multi-purpose and you have full use of it during your stay to use as you require. 

Catering kitchen - our large kitchen with full facilities is where some memorable meals will be created.  We are well known for our excellent food, which is made to a very high standard and is certainly not the 'normal camp tucker!'  We can also provide packed lunches if you are heading off site for the day.  If you would prefer to organise your own catering, please contact us to discuss.

Recreational Hall - This is another of our multi-purpose areas, it is suitable for many sports such as volleyball, basketball, indoor soccer and unihoc.  This area can quickly be modified into a fully carpeted meeting area.

Chapel - another ideal meeting place for smaller groups, can also be used as 'overflow' sleeping areas if required.

Showers & toilet blocks - we have two bathroom blocks, one at each end of the camp. Both contain male and female facilities with hot water.

Playing Fields - We have 2 playing fields which are suitable for all outdoor games, we have equipment for cricket, touch, soccer, T-ball and volleyball.  These fields are also ideal for tents to be pitched if you want to add a tenting experience to your stay.

BBQ area - there is a lovely sheltered area ideal for BBQ's or just somewhere to relax in the sun.  If you would like to have a BBQ as one of your meals, then please ask us about this when you book and we can discuss the arrangements.

Pool - we have a large swimming pool which is open from late October until the end of April.

Water Slide -  90 meter canvas waterslide, with inflated sides.  Water is pumped to the top of the slide for riders to come down the incline on mats.

Orienteering - explore some of the native surroundings as you follow our established course.

Confidence course - this is a low (ground level) course that has been designed to be both exciting and challenging, team work and leadership skills will be developed using this.

Archery - we also have equipment which can be included into your programme.

ROPES COURSES

We are well known for our High and Low ropes courses.  The courses are run by an experienced instructor and all who participate find it to be a very rewarding and satisfying experience.  Safety harnesses and helmets are supplied to all who participate.

The Low course is suitable from 8 years to Intermediate.  There are 14 challenging elements. 

The High course is suitable for all those over Intermediate age, there are 16 challenging elements with a recently added bailey bridge and steel rope ladder.

If you are interested in completing a ropes course while you stay with us, please advise us at the time of booking and we can confirm the charges for this with you.

As we are only a 5 minute drive from Paraparaumu railway station, it makes it easy for your group to travel into Wellington on the train. Trains leave every 30 minutes, and it takes approximately 50 minutes to get into Wellington.  Once there, you are close to many attractions such as Te Papa, The Zoo, Cable Car and Botanical Gardens
